Environ Health and Safety Award 2021

Terry Cecil (Environ Safety Consultant for London), Ovidu Chiorean & Clayton Gash

Environ Safety Management Limited have presented Ovidu Chiorean with an award for his Professionalism and Commitment to Health & Safety together with a £50 Marks & Spencer voucher. Ovidu started with Horbury Joinery as a carpenter in 2016 and has working on many projects including Beaufort Park, Barts Square and Woolwich Arsenal where he is currently supervising the finished works. Ovidu has constantly shown a good understanding of health and safety practises and has strived to be better in his trade, he has recently passed an NVQ in carpentry and is now on a journey to management. His managers, Dave Kenyon, and Clayton Gash both recognised his positive attitude for health and safety and put him forward for this new award, they have been able to trust him with carrying out health and safety duties and he has achieved constant high score on monthly audits.

As a Liverpool supporter, Ovidu knows only too well how the wheels can come off when you take your eye off the ball and celebrate too early. He was extremely pleased but surprised when he was told about the award, he has put this down to the high standards that his managers have shown him and the training he has received. “Olly has shown a good attitude to health and safety when he has worked for Horbury Joinery”, Clayton said. “He has always been interested in why we do what we do with health and safety on our sites and has constantly set a good example to his work colleagues. When we were looking for someone to step up and take charge of health and safety duties at Woolwich Arsenal, Olly was the obvious choice”. Terry Cecil, Environs H&S Consultant for London, agreed, “Ovidu would be the standout operative when I would visit Horbury Joinery sites for their audits, so this award is well deserved”. Congratulation Olly.
