Job Title: Maintenance Technician – (Carpentry / Passive Fire)
Reporting to: Richard Sutton
Normal Place of Work: South Grove House, Rotherham
Normal Hours of Work: 40 Hours per week

Purpose of the Role (Overview):
To carry out maintenance and installation works to buildings and installations as directed. Core skills will be carpentry based with a degree of fire safety work (e.g. fire door repairs / fire stopping)
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out maintenance works as directed according to the approved level of skill and in line with company policies, procedures, legislation, third party accreditations and industry good practice.
- Record all completed or surveyed work on the electronic systems provided ensuring systems are synchronised regularly and at a minimum of daily.
- Work cohesively with other site trades and internal group companies, avoiding conflict.
- Ensure all installations maintain an efficient use of materials. Ensure all materials are stored safely and securely on site at all times and van stock schedules are updated regularly.
- Adhere to all local site safety rules.
- Attend any required inductions, site meetings, tool box talks, training, company meetings.
- Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environment processes and procedures within the Safety Management Systems, adopt a pro-active approach to Health and Safety compliance.
- Complete all required paperwork / electronic systems timely and legibly.
- If the role involves the use of a company vehicle, ensure the Fleet Policy is followed and all relevant paperwork or electronic reporting is submitted timely and to the required standard.
- Occasionally take the lead on installation/repair work liaising with the Site and Project managers, organising materials, labour and inputting to the programme of works.
- Achieve or better any personal performance measures set by line manager.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to ensure and effective and efficient service is maintained.
- Maintain a friendly and customer focussed approach.
- Undertake call out duties as and when required, with reasonable notice.
- Undertake such other duties and responsibilities as would be deemed reasonably commensurate with the level of the post.
Qualifications Required:
- Good level of education (e.g. GCSE’s in an appropriate subject related to the role)
- Appropriate qualification in Joinery / Carpentry (e.g. City and Guilds, or NVQ) or recognized trade apprenticeship
- CSCS Card (Blue)
- Asbestos Awareness, DBS Checked (Standard) - Desirable
- FIRAS (or equal approved) registered - Desirable
- Drivers licence
Skills Required:
- General joinery skills, fire door installation and maintenance
- Fabric Maintenance
- Plumbing repairs and installation - Desirable
- Passive Fire Safety work (e.g. fire stopping / sealing) - Desirable
Competencies / Experience Required:
- Experience in FM, Repairs and Maintenance works within a live environment
- Carrying out multi-skilled work effectively and efficiently
- Fire Door Maintenance and/or Installation to LPCB, FIRAS, BM Trada standards
- Experience and willingness of working out of normal hours.
