Public BuildingsLiverpool Library is one of the UK’s biggest library development projects delivered through the Government’s PFI programme, to create a modern 21st Century library, with archiving facilities. Work includes restoration of the Grade II listed parts of the building which date back to 1850, including the façade and famous Picton, Hornby and Oak Reading Rooms, which have been restored to their former glory, together with demolition and new build to other areas.
Latest Case Study

In it’s role as specialist Joinery Subcontractor, MWS Joinery Ltd undertook the following works:-
- Internal door sets to include bespoke doors to match the historic doors that were retained
- within the Hornby library and Picton reading rooms.
- Circular halo lighting rings to the Discover Library, to include acoustic ceilings.
- Internal glazed screens.
- Bespoke veneered elliptical panelling to the faces of the atrium floor slab edges.
- Bespoke veneered panelling to the edges of the light well floor slabs. Bespoke elliptical veneered Louvre to the top of the atrium.
- Multi media room with glazed screens, acoustic linings and seamless external cladding
- with recessed LED lighting.
- Solid hardwood flooring to the Café areas.
- General joinery to include, skirting boards, architraves, window boards, ironmongery etc.
