Dry lining, partitioning and construction of over 16 km of partitions and fire walls.

Worcester's Royal Hospital was one of the first and largest projects of its kind to be carried out under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI). At project level, it involved a partnership between five major subcontractors, one of which was Horbury.

The work undertaken by the Horbury Group included dry lining, partitioning, the construction of suspended ceilings and fire stopping. Most of this was carried out over a twelve-month period, involving a workforce of around 100.

By the end of construction, Horbury had installed an incredible 16km of stud partitioning, forming some 3000 rooms. The area of suspended ceilings they installed was enough to cover five football pitches.

It is to the partnering subcontractor's credit, that Final Accounts were agreed and paid within four weeks of project hand-over.
